Job Description – Data Architect

We are looking for an experienced technical leader with deep expertise in Data & Analytics solutions and proven technical project management experience. This position will drive the development KFC's global data architecture, including the design, adoption and rollout of data management systems and standards, and the plans to integrate, centralize and maintain them. The scope of this role covers solutions across Data Collection, Transportation and Transformation, Storage, Analysis and Surfacing. This position requires strong partnership and collaboration with varied stakeholders and the ability to provide technical expertise at a strategic level.


Strategy, Systems and Standards (30%)

* Developing and executing a plan for KFC's overall data governance, quality and security, informed by our strategy and organizational capability.
* Engaging with the customer (Marketing & Ops), technology and Finance stakeholders to create a compelling vision of a data-driven enterprise in their environment.
* Identify opportunities to enhance operational performance, mitigate risks, and lead large-scale initiatives to ensure a highly-controlled, excellent data platform is delivered.
* Supporting the definition and design of repeatable data-driven solutions working in close coordination with Head of Product & Engineering/Data.
* Lead the development of a framework of standards and systems anchored to maturity levels, so there is a clear pathway in all data domains and regions to move up maturity levels to be best-in-class.
* Define relevant standards and be accountable for the delivery of KFC's data reliability, accuracy, security and SLAs as relevant, including governance processes for the maintenance and modification.
* Acting as the subject matter expert on Data Architecture, and providing critical input on corporate strategy, existing plans, vendors and standards.
* Awarding work to Vendors and manage those Vendors to ensure delivery of plans, on time and on budget.

Vendor Management 50%

* Overseeing the definition and management of priorities to Vendors (both Internal and Yum!), against the scope, capability and capacity of Vendors, considering resource allocations and workload assignments and making recommendations according to requirements.
* Fostering a collaborative, innovative and efficient working culture, collaborating with Vendors and all relevant stakeholders to ensure the regular delivery of projects and products in accordance with Agile methodologies
* Setting up, driving and participating in daily 'stand up' meetings as needed, providing direction and guidance as required
* Analyzing and trouble-shooting issues and negotiating with internal and external stakeholders to find solutions
* Reviewing and monitoring scope and budget for Vendor deliverables.
* Ensure that Vendor teams maintains high level of competence and operational excellence
* Evaluating the performance of Vendors and recommending changes to plans or Vendors as required
* Providing executive-level communications on key risks, opportunities and remediation steps, escalating issues and recommending solutions required.

Collaboration & Change Management (20%)

* Communicate and drive adoption of technology standards and solutions and systems through active collaboration with markets, regional colleagues and franchise partners through a variety of channels (playbooks, summits, 1:1 relationships, meetings, etc.);
* Be subject matter expert to (advisor and consultant) for our business units, regional groups and franchise partners in relation to helping them advance the adoption of standards and solutions
* Drive innovation by incubating the testing of new standards and solutions in conjunction with market partners, and ensuring that innovations which are created in one market are rapidly codified and shared with other markets to drive adoption
* Develop a reporting regime to capture markets level of adherence to standards, and partner with BMU's to identify strategies to elevate adherence market by market
* Define metrics to track adoption progress and standards maturity for executive leadership
* Clearly and concisely present information or status of work programs to executive leadership
* Identify gaps and conflicts in markets adherence to standards and make recommendations to address them
* Support the adoption of security standards by ensuring the BMUs are aware of the standards, and facilitating the strengthening of the relationship between the market stakeholders and GTRM
* Review recommended vendor solutions adherence to standards, and where gaps exist make recommendations to address them
* Champion successes to all parts of the organization, including executive sponsors, in formal and informal settings, and be accountable for regular reporting.

Minimum Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree related field, or equivalent practical experience.
* Bachelor's degree in Technology, Computer Science, Statistics or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
* 10+ years of Data & Analytics experience, preferably including exposure to setting process, standards or execution;
* 5+ years implementational experience with both traditional relational databases (MS SQL, etc), 3+ years implementation experience with more modern cloud fist solutions (AWS Redshift, etc) and No-SQL (Mongo, etc)
* Experience of managing complex projects involving deep levels of integration and with multiple stakeholders;
* Experience with traditional surfacing tools such as PowerBI and Data Science tools such as Python, R);
* Experience with traditional ETL/ELT integration tools as well as more modern real-time messaging/integration platforms;
* Ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges in an enterprise environment.
* Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multiple projects with a broad range of internal and external constituents simultaneously.
* Excellent collaboration and partnership skills and ability to bridge gaps of understanding between business and technical partners
* Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Requirements:

* Masters or PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Engineering or Math or related field.
* Experience of building solutions in a high volume, multi-country, retail environment;
* Hands-on experience leading large-scale global data warehousing and analytics projects.
* Experience developing effective, pragmatic standards frameworks;
* Experience of working with, and leading, on shore and off shore development teams;
* Tech savvy and business focussed – able to identify practical technological solutions to operational business issues;
* Innovative mindset, able to identify opportunities and solutions in a constraint-based environment;
* 5+ years of experience in a multi-franchise environment, with demonstrated experience in franchisee engagement;
* 5+ year of experience in a consulting role an advantage;
* Highly developed collaboration and organisational skills;
* Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
* Demonstrated experience of using soft skills and relationship for influencing multiple stakeholders;
* Ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment, deliver high-quality performance on multiple, simultaneous strategic, value-added tasks and priorities
