Job Responsibilities:

* New restaurant project pipeline management and communication – 60%
* Design manager for traditional ground up new build restaurants and conversions of other concepts to KFC restaurants.
* Provides clear, effective and timely communication of design direction and changes to external consultants, Regional Franchisee Development Managers (RFDM) and franchisee teams.
* Track and document projects through the A&D process and update asset information in a cross functional database.
* Build trust and confidence in ongoing working relationships with franchisee's and their teams to build KFC assets while providing solutions to problems in all executional phases of restaurant design and construction.
* Work Closely with Regional Franchisee Development Managers (RFDM) on pre-design assessments to collaborate on site selection.

* Prototype plan set management – owns prototype change management process, and annual prototype plan releases – 20%
* Develop, maintain and support new restaurant prototype drawings.
* Own KFC Architectural standards, lead the change management and communication for all prototypes across the system including vendors by providing coordinated market-ready drawings, specifications etc.
* Partner with internal teams to closely align design prototypes while proactively tracking and communicating all scope and spec changes in a fluid environment.
* Lead the platform (backend) http://kfcplans.com to drive change management. Work closely with other functions from the business development including architecture team to ensure the information on the platform (development and design) is up-to-date and adequate.

* Remodel restaurant project design review management and communication – 10 %
* Evaluate design submittals, identify exceptions, propose and implement design solutions as part of project design reviews.
* Provides clear, effective and timely communication of design direction and changes to external consultants, KFC Construction Managers (CM) and franchisee teams.

* 3D visualization using Trimble SketchUp – 10%
* Support visuals for A&D playbooks
* Support A&D team design work across all restaurant formats

* Contribute to cross-functional projects supporting broader development team and brand goals
* Ad hoc Operations, IT, Food Innovation, etc. projects which impact the architecture and design of KFC restaurants.
* Ad hoc Development and architecture related projects as needed.
* Operations and Engineering back-of-house (BOH) impacts to restaurant designs.

Knowledge and Skill Required:

* Education/Certifications – BS in Architecture, Interior Design or related field.
* Related Professional registrations/certifications are a plus

* Experience
* Multi-unit restaurant design, retail design or hospitality experience in an architectural firm or a corporate organization focused on construction documents (min 3-5 years of expanding responsibility)
* CADD proficiency with Autodesk AutoCad & Trimble SketchUp required.
* Project management experience specific to building design, permitting and general construction administration.
* Managing external architecture, design and engineering consultants.
* Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite of software (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
* Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of software (Excel, Power point, Access, etc.)

* Skills
* Ability to balance design with operational needs and budgets resulting in successful execution of restaurant environments.
* Skilled in written and verbal communication of design issues.
* Knowledge of architectural details and specifications for document production and coordination.
* Comfortable working in a highly collaborative and fast paced environment.
* Current working knowledge of health codes, accessibility compliance and building codes.
* Strong problem solving and decision making skills.
* Intellectual curiosity and strong personal accountability to meet and exceed goals, tracking performance towards objectives.
* Strong work ethic with the ability to address multiple projects with a positive mindset.
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
