The position leads the engineering team. You are responsible for the design, testing, and implementation of all equipment in our restaurants. Equipment includes small wares and associated programs. Additionally, you ensure ongoing quality. You provide technical and strategic thought leadership to the business while driving growth.

Job Responsibilities

* Develop actionable business strategies using technology-based solutions. Enable solutions for calendar windows, menu innovation, operational simplicity, BOH process improvements and overall profitability
* Lead cross functional teams in the national implementation of technology-based programs
* Partner with cross functional calendar teams around equipment and small wares engineering. You will support national calendar implementation, Limited Time Offers (LTOs) and test markets.
* Leverage suppliers to develop new equipment and small wares technology. Help guide the industry in areas critical to KFC one system. Drive continuous improvement for the business
* Work cross-functionally as part of project team's leadership. Give technical support and guidance on equipment and small wares of projects in the pipeline. Ensure simplicity of operations.
* Lead the Equipment Development Process (EDP). This includes prototype development, business case, lab testing, specifications and field testing. Maintain accountability for all functional specifications
* Ensure equipment and small wares quality is maintained. Lead any resolution of quality failures to ensure consistency in Core offerings
* Support team in performance of simulations to model operating efficiencies. Understand deeper business questions and partner on development of strategic long-term solutions
* Actively engage in RFP process to provide guidance on supplier performance and risk
* Responsible for Alternate Vendor Approval (AVA) ensuring secure supply chain
* Support development pipeline through restaurant layout reviews, BOH flow optimization and RSCS distributor model revisions
* Share know how and collaborate with other brands, KFC global markets, and peers to drive consistency and industry best practices
* Actively engage with senior franchisee leadership through NCAC, OSC and OEC partnerships. Drive strategy and develop one system solutions
* Liaison for technical and quality issues. Resolve between the company, franchisees and the supply chain organization along with supplier partners
* Develop and build supplier relationships to drive innovation, continuous improvement and quality
* Attend educational workshops, review professional publications, establish personal networks, and participate in professional societies to maintain and grow professional and technical understanding
* Achieve financial objectives by preparing the engineering budget, scheduling expenditures, examining variances and initiating corrective actions
* Actively participate in the Restaurant Margin Initiative (RMI) process. Deliver margin improvement to the business while not impacting performance or quality
* Assess and recruit key talent in Ops. Develop, coach, and establish engineering career paths including a strong bench
* Use disruptive thinking to challenge the status quo

Knowledge and Skills Required

* Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred); MS in Engineering a plus
* 5+ years career experience in Engineering/Packaging/Equipment related field
* Experience or strong interest in being a part of an iconic global Quick Service Restaurant company. Experience working in a franchisee model is also highly preferred
* Extensive understanding and track record of success in developing and commercializing new equipment
* Experience in project management and process development. Manufacturing/technology development environment experience a plus
* Demonstrated technical leadership and people development. Ability to influence and inspire others of all levels of the organization
* Track record of successfully managing vendor relationships
* Confidence, presence, and personal drive balanced with humility. Ability to excel in a team-based approach to innovation
* Ability to calmly handle and resolve conflict effectively
* Sound analytical and critical thinking skills. Strategic ability to think "big picture" to achieve breakthrough results
* Strong moral compass and commitment to doing what is right
